Electric vehicles is becoming the way to go for many reasons. Charging your electric vehicle at home is the way to go no a days. Not all panels can handle the load of a 240V EV charger. 

Two of the most commons issues we are finding and repairing since we are on the service and repair side of electrical and not installing lights. 

1. We are finding that many of the 110/120V normal chargers that plug into generic, existing outlet are causing the plugs(outlet(s)) to melt as well the wiring and such.
2. Over the years to this date, we gets many calls with people that are loosing power, noticing flickering lights, smell burning or their EV stopped working… We are repairing multiple melted 220/240V EV breakers on new and old breaker boxes/panels sadly. Just because the job is done to code and is a simple new install doesn’t mean they have the proper experience. These 220/240V chargers run much warmer than any typical appliance in your home and therefore proper balance, design and knowing the panels flaws matters more then you think. Just because they are licensed doesn’t mean they have the proper experience with it.
